Help GU Impact The Community For The Holidays
SPOKANE, Wash. - The Gonzaga University athletic department is partnering with Catholic Charities and the Gonzaga Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) us coordinating a food drive for the Campus Kitchen as Bulldog athletics gets involved with the Spokane community during the holiday season.
The Bulldogs and Catholic Charities Spokane will be collecting clothing items at the men's basketball game this Thursday, and the women's basketball game next Tuesday.
SAAC, meanwhile, will conduct its Campus Kitchen Food Drive Sunday when top-ranked Stanford University visits the McCarthey Athletic Center for a 2 p.m. contest.
The Zags are asking fans to donate men's socks, hats and gloves at the men's game against Lewis-Clark State College Thursday. All items donated Thursday will benefit House of Charity which is Catholic Charities homeless shelter for men in Spokane.
Tuesday when the women's team faces Eastern Washington University at 6 p.m., fans are encouraged to bring diapers, any size, to the game. The diapers will benefit St. Margaret's Shelter and CAPA- Childbirth and Parenting Assistance, two programs of Catholic Charities that assist families in need.

On Sunday SAAC is asking fans to bring non-perishable food items for the fourth annual drive benefiting local families in need for the holidays. Fans making a donation will be entered in a giveaway for a chance to win an autographed basketball, an autographed jersey and a ticket package for an upcoming women's basketball game.
Last year SAAC collected nearly 1,400 pounds of food and nearly $200 for GU's Campus Kitchen.
The Campus Kitchen at Gonzaga is a part of the Campus Kitchens Project, a national non-profit organization whose mission is to empower student leaders and combat hunger across America.
Since 1912, Catholic Charities Spokane, a network of 11 programs in the 13 counties of eastern Washington, has assisted low income and vulnerable people regardless of religious, social or economic background. Catholic Charities maintains its Core Values of Respect, Compassion, Collaboration and Justice in its service to all persons.
