Bulldogs Return Home From Maui To Face Coppin State Sunday

            SPOKANE, Wash. - Gonzaga University returns home Sunday to face Coppin State University of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) in the inaugural meeting between the two schools on the hardwood.

            Sunday’s game will be the fourth road game in six outings for the Eagles and their second trip to the Northwest this season. CSU opened the season at the University of California and an 83-64 setback. But the Eagles regrouped with a 78-73 win at Oregon State University the next day. CSU’s current road swing began with an 87-45 setback Friday at No. 22 University of Michigan.

            Gonzaga has played one current member of the MEAC, holding a 2-0 series advantage over Howard which was a charter member of the conference begun in 1970.

            Gonzaga enters Sunday’s game following a fifth-place finish in the 30th annual EA Sports Maui Invitational, losing to Dayton 84-79 and coming back to defeat host Chaminade 113-81 and Arkansas 91-81.

            Kevin Pangos was the lone Gonzaga selection to the EA Sports Maui Invitational All-Tournament team, averaging 26.3 ppg, 2.3 rpg, 4.0 assists/game and 1.3 steals/game.

            Pangos become the 36th member of Gonzaga’s 1,000-point club with his career-high 34 points against Arkansas in the EA Sports Maui Invitational. Pangos now has 1,019 career points to rank 35th on the Gonzaga charts. He’s also ninth on the all-time 3-point field goals made list with 183 and his 437 attempts rank eighth.
