GU-PSU Men's Basketball Game Not On TV
Dec. 9, 2002
SPOKANE, Wash. - Gonzaga University's game against Portland State University at Memorial Coliseum in Portland on Jan. 2 will not be televised in Spokane on PAX-TV as originally scheduled.
The recent demise of the Action Sports Cable Network (ASCN) in Portland left PAX without a cost effective means to bring the game back to Spokane. ASCN, owned by Portland Blazers owner Paul Allen, was going to produce and televise the game in the Portland area and send it back to Spokane. ASCN recently ceased operations.
"It would be cost prohibitive for us to produce the game ourselves. We regret the situation that arose as a result of the shutdown of ASCN. We explored every means possible to produce the game within our budget, but there were no feasible options" said Lon Lee, KHQ-TV President and General Manager.
The next PAX broadcast will be Dec. 20 when Long Beach State University visits The Kennel.
