Dec 17, 2001

SPOKANE, Wash. - Gonzaga University's men's basketball team moved up a notch to 24th in this week's Associated Press Top 25, the second straight week the Bulldogs have been ranked.

The Bulldogs, who defeated the University of Washington and Washington State University last week, received 199 points, trailing the University of Alabama by 56 points and leading the University of Cincinnati by 15 points.

Duke University remained a unanimous choice atop the poll, followed by the University of Maryland, University of Kansas, University of Florida and the University of Virginia to round out the top five.

Gonzaga will return to action Friday at home against Eastern Oregon University. The Bulldogs began final exams Monday, and will then take four days off for Christmas break following Friday's game prior to beginning preparations for an East Coast swing that has them playing Dec. 29 at Monmouth University and New Years's Eve at 15th-ranked Saint Joseph's University.
