Portland State Resolves Travel Issues; Game On As Scheduled
Dec. 22, 2008
SPOKANE, Wash. - Gonzaga University's men's basketball game against Portland State University set for Tuesday at the McCarthey Athletic Center will go on as scheduled.
Game time is 5 p.m. with the game to be televised on KHQ-TV and FSN, and broadcast on Sports Radio 1510 KGA.
The Vikings resolved their travel issues Monday afternoon when a bus was secured. Although a decision hadn't been made if the team would bus to Seattle and spend the night prior to crossing Snoqualmie Pass Tuesday morning, or cross the pass Monday night prior to stopping for the evening, PSU is not scheduled to arrive in Spokane until sometime Tuesday morning. PSU was unable to travel I-84 along The Gorge because of weather conditions from Troutdale to Hood River forcing closure of the highway. Snow is not expected to fall in Snoqualmie pass Monday night.
Gonzaga athletic director Mike Roth said reports of the Vikings being picked up by Gonzaga's leased charter aircraft were inaccurate.
"We didn't have a flight crew in town," Roth said.
Following Tuesday's game the Bulldogs will break for Christmas and then return to prepare for a Dec. 31 contest at the University of Utah.
