Dec. 28, 2001
LOS ANGELES, Cali. - Gonzaga University senior guard Dan Dickau has been voted to the John R. Wooden Award MidSeason Top 30 for the 2001-02 Wooden Award Player of the Year and All-America Team.
Dickau, who was on the preseason Top 50, is averaging a team-high 17.7 ppg and 4.1 assists/game for the 22nd-ranked Bulldogs entering Saturday's contest at Monmouth University. He is the third straight Bulldog to make the midseason list, joining Matt Santangelo in 2000 and Casey Calvary last season, the latter a member of the Wooden All-America team.
The Top 30 was selected by a vote of the Wooden Award committee with selections based on individual performance and team records thus far in the 2001-02 season. Gonzaga is 10-2 with wins over a pair of nationally ranked teams.
Players who do not make this list are still eligible for consideration for the Wooden Award.
On Tuesday, March 26, 2002, the 10-player Wooden Award All-America Team will be announced. One member of the Wooden Award All-American Team will be selected on Sunday, April 7, 2002, to receive the Wooden Award Trophy as the nation's "Most Outstanding Collegiate Basketball Player of the Year."
