Gonzaga, Saint Joseph's Game Sold Out

Dec. 28, 2005

SPOKANE, Wash. - Tickets for Gonzaga University's men's basketball game New Year's Eve at 3 p.m. against Saint Joseph's University are sold out. The game will be televised by ESPN2 and carried on the radio on KGA 1510 AM.

The Bulldogs will be facing Saint Joseph's for the fourth time in the last five seasons with the Hawks making their second visit to Spokane. This will also mark the third time the teams have met each other on New Year's Eve. In Saint Joseph's last visit to Spokane on Dec. 31, 2002, the Hawks ended the Bulldogs 29-game home winning streak in The Kennel as Jameer Nelson scored 34 points including the game winner with 8 seconds remaining as Saint Joseph's won 79-78 in overtime.

Gonzaga won the inaugural meeting between the two schools in much the same fashion as Dan Dickau drained a 3-pointer with time running out to give Gonzaga an 83-80 win over Saint Joseph's in Philadelphia on Dec. 31, 2001. The third meeting between the schools was played at Madison Square Garden as Saint Joseph's knocked off the Bulldogs 73-66 in the Coaches vs. Cancer Classic on Nov. 14, 2003. Saint Joseph's would go on to finish the regular-season undefeated and No. 1 in the nation while Gonzaga finished the regular-season ranked No. 3 in the nation.
