Bagnall serves as the men's rowing recruiting coordinator while also coaching the freshman/novice and junior varsity rowers. Since joining the Bulldogs, Bagnall has helped to recruit top talent from across the United States along with developing many of Gonzaga's top oarsmen. In 2004 he coached the junior varsity 8+ to a first-place finish at the West Coast Conference Championships and a third-place finish at the WIRA Championships. His freshman 4+ boat finished 15th at the 2004 IRA Championships. In 2005 Bagnall again coached the junior varsity and freshman boats to championship success with the junior varsity 8+ capturing the WCC Championship and the bronze medal at the WIRA Championships. His freshman 4+ finished 7th at the IRA's while the freshman 8+ was invited to the 2005 Opening Day Regatta, finishing third. Bagnall had one rower from his junior varsity boat earn second team All-WIRA honors. The 2006 season was a defining year for Bagnall's novice rowers at Gonzaga. The novice squad went undefeated in its dual racing season, and earned a silver medal in both the first and second freshman 8+ races at the WIRA Regatta. The freshman 8+ also garnered a second place finish at the Opening Day Regatta over a talented field which included Oregon State University and Orange Coast College, finishing second only to eventual national champion University of Washington. To cap off the successful 2006 season, Gonzaga earned its inaugural invitation to compete in the freshman 8+ race at the IRA National Championship Regatta where the Bulldogs placed 16th. In 2007, Bagnall coached the Novice 4+ to a second place finish at the WIRA Championships. During the summer of 2007, Bagnall served as the assistant coach for the US Rowing Junior National Team Development and Selection Camp in Seattle, Wash. This camp selected the United States Junior 4- that competed at the 2007 Junior World Championships in Beijing, China. Led by another talented group of recruits and walk-on freshman, the 2008 season was a benchmark in Gonzaga freshman/novice men's rowing. Bagnall's group compiled an 8-1 dual racing record defeating both east coast and west coast competition including Oregon State, UCLA, Michigan, Virginia and the US Naval Academy. The reward for this impressive season was the second-ever invitation for the freshman 8+ to the 2008 IRA Regatta where Bagnall's crew finished its season by winning its final two races to finish 13th in the nation. During the summer of 2008, Bagnall coached and was Assistant Camp Director for Hawk Rowing in Philadelphia, Penn. This past season, the Freshman/Novice squad, under Bagnall's guidance, had successful fall and spring racing seasons, with an eventual second place finish at the WIRA Championships. The silver medal finish at WIRA, along with dual racing wins on the east and west coasts, earned the Bulldog Freshman 8+ its third invitation in the past four years to the Men's National Championships (IRA Regatta). The Freshman 8+ finished 15th in the nation. Bagnall was named assistant coach after a stint at Washington State University, where he coached the WSU freshmen from 1998-2000 and the varsity men's program from 2000-02.
