SPOKANE, Wash. - The weekend slate will be full of rowing action as the Gonzaga University men's and women's crews host two events this Saturday and Sunday at Silver Lake. On Saturday morning the Zags will host UC Davis with men's and women's varsity eight action kicking off at 9 a.m. After a short intermission to change equipment and double some varsity rowers, Gonzaga and UC Davis will race their novice/junior varsity boats starting at 10:40 a.m. on the 2,000 meter course. On Sunday morning the Gonzaga women will again return to Silver Lake for varsity racing action against West Coast Conference member Saint Mary's College starting at 10 a.m.

The men's varsity eight will remain virtually the same as in last week's regatta against Western Washington with the two changes coming at the coxswain position and three seat. Elaine Parry will return to cox the team while Ben Foley enters the varsity eight boat after spending a semester in Florence, Italy. The line-up will consist of coxswain Parry, stroke Mark Voorhees, Pat Haffey, Max Malotky, Nathan Wilson, Mathew Wernette, Foley, Connor Barry and box David Hinshaw. The men's freshman eight for the UC Davis race will be coxswain Lauren Gadeken, stroke Malotky, Hinshaw, Wernette, Derek Clemmensen, James Toshack, Geoff Hills, Matt White and bow Brad Jonnes.

The women's varsity eight will look much different than last week as several seat races during the week have resulted in a different Gonzaga line-up. The varsity eight will include coxswain Courtney Serpa, stroke Maria Bokulich, Carolyn Schepper, Kari Durgan, Jessica Kocarnik, Kristi Aamodt, Karen O'Hagan, Nicole Aadland-Lewis and bow Heather Jewell. The junior varsity boat will consist of coxswain Melissa Hayes, stroke Mariah Smith-Miloff, Bridget Troy, Teresa Archuletta, Jess Nestor, Jenni Cooper, Maria Fussell, Joni Goodman and box Sarah Allison. Gonzaga's third varsity eight for weekend racing will be made up of coxswain Erin Palmiter, stroke Jessica Michaels, Hilda Morones, Brittany Price, Courtney Cline, Kristen Reed, Ann Parker, Brianna Morin and bow Alison Cushman.

On Sunday Gonzaga and Saint Mary's will also race fours in addition to eights in their dual regatta. The fours will consist of coxswain Palmiter, stroke Morin, Morones, Price and bow Cushman in one boat; coxswain Melissa Refuerzo, stroke Reed, Cline, Michaels and bow Parker in a second boat; and coxswain Kris Lund, stroke Liz Sambach, Katie Hall, Jessica Uphoff and box Darci Wagner in the Zags third boat.

In addition to Gonzaga racing action, UC Davis will also face Washington State's men in a varsity and novice eight race at 11:50 and noon.
