SPOKANE, Wash. - Gonzaga University men's and women's crew teams will head to Seattle, Wash., Saturday after accepting invitations to compete in the annual Windermere Cup/Opening Day Regatta at Montlake Cut hosted by the University of Washington. The Bulldog women will race in the Erickson Cascade Cup, the Open 8+ and Novice 8+ races. The Zag men will compete in the men's Erickson Cascade Cup race.

Gonzaga's women's boat that is racing in the Erickson Cascade Cup will consist of Joan Aubry, Kelly Steinhaus, Jessica Kocarnik, Cory Nelson, Hanna McClintock, Katie Atkins, Kelsey Koenig, Nicole Aadland-Lewis, and Whitney Engle

The Zag women's Open 8+ will be comprised of Kris Lund, Whitney Patrick, Sierra Tittle, Teagan Towhey, Stephanie Murphy, Julie Smetana, Jana Holcombe, Sophie Bluhm, and Heather Jewell

The Bulldog women's Novice 8+ will feature Sarah Rotar, Chelsie Eddings, Alissa Stempson, Sara Hickman, Kari Sulenes, Katherine Krueger, Liz Moore, Sam Cekovic, and Rachel Ross

The Gonzaga men's boat that will race in the Erickson Cascade Cup will consist of Amanda Brown, Warren North, Scott McCoy, Pat Swihart, David Hinshaw, Brendan McCarthy, Matt Wernette, Bryan Franceschi, and Greg Mallman.

Gonzaga made its last appearance in the Opening Day Regatta in 2005. The Bulldog novice crews picked up a first and second place finish two seasons ago marking the best combined finish for the Bulldogs men's and women's novice crews at the event. Gonzaga shocked the host University of Washington as the Bulldogs collected a one-second win in the women's Novice 8+ in a five-boat field. The GU men's Novice 8+ also faired well, placing second behind Washington.
