RS SOPHOMORE (2017-18): Appeared in three events for the Zags...played nine rounds and shot under par in two of them...recorded a team-best, and matched the program-best, low round of 65 in the second round of the Loyola Intercollegiate.

Ruel joins Gonzaga as a redshirt freshman in 2017-18, after transferring from the University of Mississippi. He redshirted last season at Ole Miss, and will be immediately eligible for the Zags. During his freshman season at Mississippi he boasted a 3.53 GPA in the school of business, making the Dean's Honor Roll.
Prior to going to Oxford, Miss., Ruel enjoyed a stellar career at Jesuit High School in Tampa, Fla. At JHS, he was named the Hillsborough County Player of the Year after being the runner-up at the 2015 Class AA Florida High School State Championship. Ruel was tabbed First Team All-Hillsborough County following his junior and sophomore seasons.
Ruel earned medalist honors at the 2015 U.S. Junior Amateur Championship Qualifier, and would go on to finish 24th in stroke play. He also won the 2012 Kids Golf Teen World Championship.
In 2015, Ruel was the Future Masters Champion, carding three straight rounds of 67. He went three-over and tied for 15th the following year at the event in Dothan, Ala.
Ruel excelled in Florida Junior Tour play as well. He tied for fourth at West Orange (72-72) and Viera East (71-72), before tying for sixth at the 2015 FJT Tour Championship (70-75). He tied for 12th at the Florida Boys Junior Amateur Championship (71-72-76) in 2015, and 20th in 2014 (71-69-75).
