Munroe Leads Men's Golf To Inland Collegiate Title

LEWISTON, Ida. - The Gonzaga University men's golf team got off to a rousing start for the 2003 Spring season as the Bulldogs shot a team score of 303 to tie for first in the Inland Collegiate Challenge at Lewiston Country Club. Gonzaga tied for the team title with Washington State University, both schools finishing one stroke ahead of the University of Idaho for the team title. Host Lewis-Clark State College finished fourth in the four-team event with a score of 324. Matt Munroe shot a round of 72 to lead three Bulldogs golfers to Top 10 finishes on the day. Munroe tied for individual medalist honors with Pete Williams from Idaho and Chad Carlson from Washington State. In addition to Munroe's even par round of 72 on the Lewiston Country Club, Jon Meyer and transfer Souta Nozaka each collected Top 10 finishes. Meyer shot a round of 74 to finish 6th while Nozaka fired off a round of 76 to tie for 7th in his first event for the Bulldogs after transferring from the Community Colleges of Spokane at the semester break.
