STEVINSON, Calif. - Gonzaga University's men's golf team shot a final-round 298 Tuesday and finished 11th at the Colorado-Stevinson Ranch Invitational hosted by the University of Colorado.

The Bulldogs, who set a tournament record with their 26-shot improvement from the first round to the second round on Monday, finished at 912 and were two strokes behind fellow West Coast Conference foe University of San Francisco in their bid for a Top 10 finish in the 16-team tourney.

New Mexico State University overcame Saint Mary's College, another WCC foe of the Bulldogs, to capture the team title at 872, good for an 8-stroke win over the Gaels who held a 2-stroke lead heading into Tuesday's final 18 holes.

Reyn Tanaka was the top individual for Gonzaga, shooting a final-round 76 for a 54-hole score of 224 over the 7,144-yard, par-72 Stevinson Golf Club layout. He had rounds of 78-70 Monday.

Medalist honors went to Anthony Michael of Oklahoma City University who shot a final-round 66 for a 54-hole score of 212 and a 3-stroke victory over three other golfers. Michael was seven shots off the lead following Monday's 36 holes.

The tournament was the final tune-up for the Bulldogs prior to the West Coast Conference Championship to be held Monday and Tuesday at Chambers Bay Golf Course in Dupont, Wash., located outside of Tacoma.
