MGLF Welcomes Two Additions in 2018-19

SPOKANE, Wash. -- Gonzaga men's golf head coach Robert Gray announced the additions of Grant Johnson and Keith Lobis for the 2018-19 season recently.
"We're very excited to have Grant and Keith join our program," Gray said. "They're outstanding individuals, who come from fantastic families and will be great representatives of our program, Gonzaga University and the Spokane community. Both are solid players, who are relatively new to the game and have excelled quickly. They're highly committed, self-driven and hardworking individuals who will fit in very well with our current team chemistry."
Grant Johnson, Walnut Creek, Calif. (Las Lomas)
Johnson will join the Zags after graduating from Las Lomas High School, where he has excelled on and off of the course. He earned the Outstanding Athletic Achievement Award for LLHS and graduated with California Scholarship Federation honors. Johnson played on the varsity team all four years at Las Lomas and was selected First Team All-League in his final two seasons and selected Second Team All-League following his sophomore year. He led the golf team to their first league title in 17 years and qualified individually into the California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) NorCal Boys championship in his sophomore and senior years.
Johnson won the 2017 AJGA Se Ri Pak Junior Championship in Chico, California with a tournament total of 216 (72-72-72). He is ranked 198th in the national Rolex AJGA Rankings. Johnson won the 2016 Future Collegians World Tour (FCWT) at the Centennial Golf Club with a tournament total of 137 (71-66). He was a top ten finisher four times on the FCWT, finishing the 2016-2017 FCWT season ranked eighth nationally, and was named Second Team All-FCWT in 2016-17.
Johnson was a top five finisher on the Northern California Golf Association Junior Tour twice and was ranked 25th in the state of California for the class of 2017 on Junior Golf Scoreboard.
Keith Lobis, Camas, Wash. (Union)
Lobis brings his talents to Gonzaga in 2018-19 following a standout career at Union High School. He boasts a weighted GPA of 4.58 and ranks third in a class size that's over 500 students. He scored a 1500 on his SAT and has been a member of the National Honor Society for three years.
Lobis is a two-time Class 4A GSHL District Champion (2016 and 2017) and was an All-Region selection in 2015 and 2016. He was the 2017 OGA Central Oregon Major Champion and Tournament of Majors Champion. Lobis finished in the top 25 in the 2017 Optimist International in a field of 160 golfers. He had multiple top 10 finishes in OGA and RMJGT tournaments over the last three years.
In the community, Lobis has been the Co-President of the Clark County Youth Titan's Foundation the last three years. He has led an annual food drive over the last six years, collecting over 500,000 pounds of food for the local food bank.
