Feb. 24, 2018

SPOKANE, Wash. -- The Gonzaga men's golf team begins their spring schedule at the Loyola Intercollegiate in Goodyear, Ariz., Sunday.

The two-day, 54-hole event will be played on the Palm Valley Golf Club's Palms Course. The Par-72 course plays 7,015 yards. Two rounds will be played on Sunday, with one on Monday. Both days will be a 7:45 a.m. shotgun start.

The tournament field will consist of 19 teams: Air Force, Army West Point, Charleston, Connecticut, DePaul, Drake, Eastern Michigan, Gonzaga, Hartford, Loyola, Missouri State, Murray State, Seton Hall, Siena, SIU-Edwardsville, St. John's, Towson, UT-Martin and Xavier.

Gonzaga returns to the tournament, formerly known as the Snowman Getaway, for the sixth time since 2010. The Bulldogs finished second at the then-named Neville Kovacs Group Intercollegiate on the same course in 2015. GU's James Fahy and Angus Montgomery both tied for seventh. The Zags ended the 54-hole tournament 10-over par (874).

In 2014, GU totaled a team single-round 278. That total is the seventh-lowest single-round score in program history. The Bulldogs recorded the third-lowest three-round total in Gonzaga history with a nine-under par (855) finish for the tournament. GU climbed from eighth to third on the final day with the 278 total.

David Ganz, Nick Nolan, Matt Ruel, Tyler Munetake and Chris Mogg will represent the Zags in this year's tournament.

Ganz has the lowest season average at 73.82 through the four fall events. He tied for fifth at the Pinetree Intercollegiate on Oct. 24. Gonzaga closed the fall slate with an 11th-place finish at the Ka'anapali Classic Collegiate in November.

Live scoring will be available Sunday and Monday on from Golfstat.
