MADERA, Calif. - Gonzaga University found itself in seventh place after 36 holes of the West Coast Conference Men's Golf Championship on Monday, but the Bulldogs are only four strokes out of fifth heading into Tuesday's final 36 holes.

The Bulldogs stood at 597 after rounds of 300 and 297, but Gonzaga was just three strokes behind the University of Portland at 594 and four back of Loyola Marymount University at 593. Pepperdine University has a 36-hole total of 572 for a 3-stroke lead over Santa Clara University and an 8-stroke advantage over the University of San Francisco.

Souta Nozaka and Adam Syverson were the top Bulldog individuals on Monday, both shooting 147 for a 6-player logjam at 15th. Nozaka toured the par 72, 7,072-yard Riverbend Golf Club in 70-77 while Syverson came home with rounds of 75-72.

Michael Putnam of Pepperdine shot a 147 with rounds of 72-65 for a 3-stroke lead over Robert Frye of USF and Michael Nicoletti of Santa Clara University.
