MADERA, Calif. - Gonzaga University's men's golf team is seventh after Monday's 36 holes of the West Coast Conference Golf Championship over the 6,966-yard, par 72 Riverbend Golf Club course.

The Bulldogs shot a 312-303 - 615 to hold the seventh spot, four strokes ahead of the University of Portland and seven shots behind Loyola Marymount University and the Univeristy of San Diego, both tied for fifth with first-day totals of 608.

The final 18 holes will be played Tuesday.

Matt Munroe was the top Bulldog Monday, firing a 72-76 - 148 for a four-way logjam for ninth.

Pepperdine University holds a commanding lead for the team title. shooting a 36-hole total of 567 for a 26-stroke lead over the University of San Francisco.

Pepperdine's Michael Beard sits atop the leaderboard heading into Tuesday's final round after a 134, good for a 5-stroke lead over teammate Jason Allred.
