Spots Still Available For Seattle Golf Tourney
Aug. 1, 2002 SPOKANE, Wash. - Reservations are still being accepted for the inaugural Gonzaga University Seattle Bulldog Club Golf Tournament to be held Aug. 12 at Fairwood Golf and Country Club, athletic director Mike Roth announced Thursday. "We are still taking reservations for what we think is an excellent opportunity to give our coaches and staff a presence on the west side of the state," Roth said. "The Puget Sound area is strong in Bulldog Club members, alumni and friends of the athletic department and the university. We believe this event will give us a chance to renew and build on those relationships." Mike Hogan, assistant athletic director for development, said the scramble event will be a shotgun start at 12:30 p.m., with teams of five competing for prizes valued at more than $4,000. For purposes of handicap equity, the committee will pair the teams. Hogan said efforts will be made to honor team and pairing requests. Registration will begin at 11 a.m., and there will be a hamburger barbeque lunch and a dinner included in the registration fee of $175 per golfer. Additional tickets for the social and dinner may be purchased for $40 per person. "Proceeds will be used to support Gonzaga's men and women student-athletes," Hogan said. "That's the mission of the Bulldog Club, and here's a way for people on the west side of the state to assist this worthy cause and have fun in the process."
