With Gonzaga University's top player Matt Munroe disqualified for playing both opening-day rounds off the wrong tee boxes, the Bulldogs stand tied for sixth after the first day of the Santa Clara Invitational men's golf tournament Monday.
Munroe was one of three No. 1 players disqualified for playing off the wrong tee boxes, Loyola Marymount University and the University of Hawai'i Hilo players the other two.
The Bulldogs shot a 623 to tie with Sacramento State University. Ryan Fritz is the top Bulldog tied for 11th with a 77-73 - 150. Justin Ahasic of host SCU held a 2-stroke lead with a 144.
The host Broncos also held the team lead after 36 holes with a 598, good for a 7-stroke advantage over Saint Mary's College.
The final 18 holes will be played Tuesday.
