Bulldog Men's Golf Third After 18 Holes In Hawai'i

LIHUE, Kaua'i - Gonzaga University's men's golf team found the Hawaiian Islands to their liking Monday, firing a fall-best 285 to find themselves in third place after 18 holes of the 54-hole Kaua'i Collegiate Invitational. The Bulldogs are just one stroke behind Drake University for second place and two strokes behind first-round leader San Jose State University at 283. Bowdy Ehler is tied for fifth after a 32-37 for 69 to pace the Bulldogs. Kyle Huus is tied for 15th at 71, Francis Santiago is tied for 21st with 72 and Jason Azzarito shot 73 to tie for 32nd over the 6,954-yard, par 72 Puakea Golf Course. Mark Hubbard of SJSU is the leader at 66 for a 1-stroke lead over Derek Wallace of UNC-Wilmington. The 54-hole tournament consists of three 18-hole rounds, one round played each day. Tuesday's second round will tee of at 1 p.m. PST and round three will begin at 9:30 a.m. PST Wednesday.
