Gold River, Calif.

The Zags opened the day finishing at 6:56.797 in their heat race, finishing in sixth place just three seconds behind Fairfield. The Zags were close to the pack early, but Marietta won the race at 6:38.131. GU was only six seconds behind third-place Cornell.

The Bulldogs moved onto the repechages in the afternoon, finishing fifth at 7:07.829, nine seconds behind Oregon State. Harvard won the race at 6:44.889, beating Dartmouth by two seconds and Holy Cross by three seconds. The Zags and Beavers battled throughout the race.

”The guys are discovering they need to be in the mix to be successful,” Gonzaga head coach Dan Gehn said. “We need to attack earlier and more often, our second 500 is too soft and we are getting dropped.”

The Zags moved into C/D Semifinals on Saturday at 10:16 am. Live results and live streaming links for the championships are located at GoZags.com.
