GU Varsity 8 And Second Varsity 8 Win Races At Head Of The Snake

PULLMAN, Wash. – The Gonzaga men’s rowing team completed the fall season on Sunday with the Head of the Snake at Wawawai Landing in Pullman against Washington State.
The Zags swept the top two races, and their Varsity 8 boat and Second Varsity 8 boat recorded the top two times overall. The Novice 8 boat finished in second place for the Zags. The Varsity 8 boat of Max Baker, Jack Oberle, Cole Garcia, Ian Melder, Atticus Patterson, Brandon Fairhurst, Connor Murray, Matt Peterson, and Walker Capra-Smith had the fastest time of the regatta at 16:07.0. The Second Varsity 8 of Ben Foos, Eric Engel, Collin Murray, Max Sombrowski, Kale Reichersamer, Anthony Adamek, Joshua Hoidn, Dominic Hutt, and Zach Weberboat was on top of their race and right behind at 16:35.2. The Zags Novice 8 boat of Logan Schwartzenburg, Mason Matteoni, Jackson Wills, Thomas Jamrozik, Charley Nordin, Coe Carter, Kyle Jangard, Noah Macia, and Brandon Niblockboat finished second in a four-boat race 17:20.1.
"Great racing to end our fall schedule,” Gonzaga head coach Dan Gehn said. “I am very pleased with the Varsity 8 and Junior Varsity 8 coming in 1-2 time wise. The novices also had a solid race. "
