Men's Rowing Releases 2018 Spring Schedule
Jan. 10, 2018

SPOKANE, Wash. – The Gonzaga men’s rowing team and head coach Dan Gehn have announced their 2018 spring schedule.

The Bulldogs will compete in seven regattas, all of which they entered last season. The 2018 slate begins at the Western Sprints Challenge, March 11 and 12, where GU will face conference opponents Santa Clara, UC San Diego, and San Diego on Mission Bay in San Diego.

The San Diego Crew Classic is March 24 and 25 on Mission Bay. GU entered the largest regatta in the world held for primarily eight-oared rowing shells last season and took third in the Petite Final. The last regatta in March is the Husky Open on March 31, where the second varsity eight and third varsity eight took second behind Washington last year.

The first regatta of April is the 51st Annual Kerr Cup held on the Schuylkill River in Philadelphia, Penn on April 14. At the regatta last year, headquartered at the home of the Drexel University Rowing Program, the second varsity eight took sixth in the Grand Final and the varsity eight finished fifth in the Petite Final.

Gonzaga will travel to the Fawley Cup this year against Washington State at Wawawai Landing on the Snake River in Pullman on April 21. GU will be looking for their third-straight win in the series as they have swept all the races the past two years. GU will wrap the regular season at Oregon State on Dexter Lake in Eugene, Ore. on April 28. OSU took the win last year.

Gonzaga will once again look for a berth to the IRA National Championships at the Western Sprints on Lake Natoma in Gold River, Calif. on May 12.

“This is a hard working group,” Gehn said. “We look forward to getting back on the water and racing the spring season.”
