IRVINE, Calif. - Roger Davanger's goal at 49:18 was the only scoring Saturday as the University of California-Irvine (6-2-0) edged Gonzaga University 1-0 in a non-conference men's soccer match at Anteater Stadium.

Davanger lobbed a soft kick which eluded Gonzaga keeper Joe Smith, who had 10 saves in the Bulldog nets. Ilia Nazarov got the assist. Tyler Reid stopped 4 shots in picking up the shutout. UC-Irvine held a 15-8 advantage in shots.

The teams battled through a scoreless first half, the Anteaters doubling up the shots on Gonzaga 8-4.
