CORVALLIS, Ore. - Jason Kuska scored three goals and assisted on another for a 7-point day as Gonzaga University routed Oregon State University 4-1 in a non-conference men's soccer match Sunday at Lorenz Field at Valley Stadium.

The loss came on the heels of a 3-0 shutout loss Friday at 7th-ranked University of Washington. Gonzaga (9-5-0) has won 6 of its last 7 outings. OSU (7-9-1) suffered its second straight setback.

Gonzaga (9-5-0) led the contest 1-0 at the half on the strength of a Brian Ching goal that was assisted by Kuska at 20:05. Kuska would go on to set a Lorenz Field record with seven points on the day after scoring the next three goals for Gonzaga. Kuska's three goals was also a Lorenz Field record. The old mark for points was four, and the former record for goals was two, both accomplished several times.

Kuska's first goal came at 50:42 to give the Bulldogs a 2-0 cushion. But OSU answered in the 65th minute when Ben Roth scored his first goal of the season off a Josh Elbaum corner kick. After the ball was deflected once, Roth headed it past GU's Mike McCarthy.

Kuska wrapped up the victory when he scored a pair of unassisted goals at 78:31 and 81:42. His three goals were his fourth double-digit goals matches of the season, including a 4-goal outbreak against Western Washington University. His 7 points for the day were one shy of the 8 he recorded against WWU.

With 33 points this season, Kuska has tied Ching for second on Gonzaga's single-season scoring chart, Ching scoring 33 points a year ago. Jeff McAllister holds the school record with 46 in 1997. Kuska's 14 goals tie McAllister for second on the single-season chart, a mark McAllister also holds with 19 in '97. Kuska's 35 career goals are second behind McAllister's 45. His 21 career assists tie him with Ching and his 91 career points are second behind McAllister's 102. Ching is third in career scoring with 85 points.

Gonzaga returns to West Coast Conference action next weekend with a Friday match at 8th-ranked University of San Diego and Sunday at Loyola Marymount University. Gonzaga is 3-0-0 and atop the WCC standings.
