MORAGA, Calif. - The Gonzaga Bulldogs gave up two second half goals to fall to Saint Mary's, 3-1, on Sunday afternoon at Saint Mary's Stadium.

The Gaels had grabbed a 1-0 lead in the first half at 37:02 on a goal from Joseph Restani when Frederick Karman had setup a breakaway. Jakob Granlund tied the team lead for goals with his fourth of the season just before half at 42:48 when he headed home a combo play from Connor Ourada and Christo Michaelson. SMC scored the two lone goals of the second half at 54:17 and 89:09, both by Anders Engebretsen.

Before the first SMC goal of the second half, Michaelson had a shot blocked and Jalen Crisler had a header saved. With one minute left SMC put the game away with their third goal of the match.

In the match, Gonzaga took 17 shots compared to 13 by SMC, and 7-3 in shots on goal, as all three Gaels shots found the net. Grandlund led the way for GU with three shots on goal. Toby Holstein got the first start in goal for GU this season and took the result.

"We created a lot of good chances in the second half," Gonzaga head coach Einar Thorarinsson said. "Credit their keeper, he played a tremendous match. We are focused on finishing the season strong on Saturday for our seniors and completing the season with a winning record."
