Men’s Soccer Adds OSU Transfer Auth to Signing Class

SPOKANE, Wash. – Head coach Einar Thorarinsson announced the addition of freshman transfer goalkeeper Carter Auth to the 2016 signing class on Wednesday. 

Auth is transferring to Gonzaga after one year at Oregon State. The Highlands Ranch, Colo., native played in the US Soccer Development Academy with Colorado Rush and attended Mountain Vista High School. He will join three incoming freshman including Tacoma, Wash., native Davis Behnke, Isaiah Jackson from Littleton, Colo., and Brady Henderson from Snohomish, Wash.

“Carter will add depth and experience to our group of goalkeepers,” head coach Einar Thorarinsson said. “With a year of college soccer under his belt he will be ready to compete and help to improve our team.”

Auth’s time with the Colorado Rush included playing for the U18 team in 2014-15 and U16 the previous season, where he helped that squad to a third-place finish in the Central Conference/Frontier Division. He posted seven shutouts in 17 games. At MVHS, Auth was a second team all-league honoree and played in the 5A all-state game.

Gonzaga is coming off a 7-10-1 campaign in 2015 with four players that earned WCC postseason awards, including three returners in All-WCC first-teamer Ben White, second-teamer Jakob Granlund and All-Freshman honoree Garrett Wilson.

Gonzaga’s upcoming 18-game schedule will begin on Aug. 26 with a return trip from Bradley as part of a home tournament, which will conclude with a match against Illinois-Chicago on Aug. 28. Fans can purchase tickets at
