Peter MacDonald enters his fourth season as the head men's tennis coach at Gonzaga University.

The Zags have constantly improved under MacDonald's guidance, increasing the team's win total each of his first two seasons before producing an 11-win season in 2007. The 11 victories marked the most wins for the program since Gonzaga posted 13 wins in 1999. Also in 2007, the Bulldogs were named an ITA All-Academic team, six student-athletes were named ITA Scholar-Athletes and were recipients of the NCAA Public Recognition Award. All three accolades marked program firsts. In 2008, the Bulldogs were named to the ITA All-Academic team for the second consecutive season and MacDonald continued to add to the list of firsts for the Gonzaga men's tennis program. Last season, a program-best four players earned All-West Coast Conference honors as well as recording the program's second ever win at the WCC Championships, the first since the 2000 season.

MacDonald joined the Gonzaga athletic department after four years as a private contractor in Portland, Ore. While working as a private contractor, MacDonald developed a high performance junior program and organized and ran high-performance clinics for the Pacific Northwest's top tennis players. Through his work as a private contractor, MacDonald has helped coach several players to victory at several national open tournaments in both singles and doubles play. Prior to his work as a private contractor he was a head tennis professional in Gresham, Ore. MacDonald also served as the assistant women's tennis coach at the University of Portland from 1996-98. While at Portland he helped with the technical and strategic development of the players.

MacDonald is a 1996 graduate of the University of Portland, earning his bachelors of science degree in business management.
