2016-17: Singles: Ended career with personal-best 15 singles wins, six in dual play…reached two bracket finals (EWU Fall Classic Sept. 16-18, Aggie Invitational Sept. 30-Oct. 2)…also made flight semifinal at Bulldog Classic Oct. 28-30…played at No. 4 singles in every dual played…clinched comeback dual win against Idaho Feb. 4 with three-set win over Estaban Santibanez…downed Radford’s Janken Thoen March 9 6-4, 6-0…went perfect 3-0 over Spring Break, getting wins at UC Riverside, UC Santa Barbara, and UC Irvine…leading No. 41 Portland’s Alex Wallace 6-3, 3-6, 2-1 when match left unfinished. Doubles: Also set career-highs with 12-12 overall doubles record and 10-7 in dual play…with Ruadhan O’Sullivan, reached Round of 32 at USTA/ITA Northwest Regionals Oct. 14-17…played at No. 3 doubles with Simón Homedes Dualde in every dual played…five straight wins from Jan. 28 to March 10, including wins over pairs from Idaho, Sacramento State, and Air Force…beat UC Irvine’s Bajpai/Man-Son-Hing in tiebreak to help GU clinch first-ever win over Anteaters…4-3 in WCC play…downed San Francisco’s Poysti/Giraud and Santa Clara’s Khan/Gu in first conference weekend March 25-26…beat No. 41 Portland’s Fisher/Donat 7-5 April 8…also won against Lee/Lagman of Saint Mary’s April 8.

2015-16: Singles: 5-15 overall in singles play, 2-10 during dual matches…began career with win over Eastern Washington’s Vuk Vuckovic at the EWU Fall Classic in September…also began ITA Northwest Regionals and Bulldog Classic with a win…won first Division I dual match with three-set comeback over Wacil Bendjelti of Eastern Washington…picked up win March 18 after suffering injury in mid-February…led No. 31 San Diego’s Pratt Keerasuntonpon by a set when match remained unfinished…also started third set vs. Santa Clara…led Saint Mary’s Matthew Campana by a set when match remained unfinished. Doubles: 6-9 in doubles play, 4-6 in duals…started EWU Fall Classic with 8-4 win over Ness/Bringold of Eastern Washington, partnering with Emilio Moreno…won first match of Bulldog Classic with Vicente Varas…also with Varas, defeated Ness and Bringold again to begin the dual season…took down No. 73 Pacific’s Oliveira/Ngo 6-1 to help take the doubles point…won back-to-back WCC matches with 6-4, 6-2 win over Santa Clara and tiebreak victory over San Francisco…the 7-6 (4) win clinched the dual point for Gonzaga.

Previous College: Spent two years on the Seward County Community College tennis team in Liberal, Kansas…won ITA National Doubles Championship in 2013…named Sophomore Player of the Year for 2015 and Rookie of the Year in 2014 by the ITA…led the Saints to an NJCAA Regional Championship in 2015…won seven regular season tournaments…four-time Athletic Director’s Honor Roll honoree.

Personal: Full name is Ronzai Rodney Saurombe…parents are Sheeba and Abraham…has two siblings: Lucy and Abraham…majoring in management information systems…career goal is to work for one of the best companies in the nation…chose Gonzaga because it is a “prestigious school with great academics and also a great tennis team on which I always wanted to become part of and contribute towards its success.
