Bulldogs Drop Whitman 6-1

Spokane, Wash. - The Gonzaga University men's tennis team posted a 6-1 victory over visiting Whitman College Sunday at the Spokane Racquet Club. With the victory, the Bulldogs even their record to 3-3 on the season, while Whitman drops to 0-3. Gonzaga jumped out to an 1-0 advantage after doubles play thanks to winning 2-of-3 matches. The Zags' top duo, of Roman Dojcak and Stefan Feddersen, edged out a 9-8 victory over Daniel and Matthew Solomon at No. 1. At the No. 2 position, Gonzaga secured the doubles point as Zack Radetzky and Charles Adams downed Jake Cappel and Nadeem Kassam 8-5. Whitman avoided the doubles sweep when Christopher Fuchs and Jusitn Hayashi defeated Cooper Fratt and Conor Feeney 9-8. The Bulldogs posted five victories in singles play to earn the victory. At the No. 1 spot, Dojcak downed Matthew Solomon 6-2, 6-4, while Feddersen downed Daniel Solomon 6-3, 6-1 at the No. 2 position. Radetzky earned a straight-set victory over Cappel at the No. 3 spot, 6-3, 6-2. At No. 5, Feeney posted a three-set, 7-5, 3-6, 10-3 victory over Dan Wilson, while Adams rounded out Gonzaga's victory with a 7-6, 6-1 victory over Hayashi at No. 6. Whitman earned its lone point of the game when GU's Fratt dropped a 2-6, 6-3, 10-4 decision to Chris Bailey at No. 4. The Zags will return to the courts Feb. 12 at Eastern Washington University in Cheney, Wash. Gonzaga 6, Whitman 1 Spokane, Wash. 2/3/08
