Men’s Tennis Sweeps Montana State, 7-0

SPOKANE, Wash. — Gonzaga men’s tennis cruised to a 7-0 win over Montana State on Saturday to cap a perfect 2-0 week at the Stevens Center. 

After a slow start to doubles play, which found the Zags trailing on No. 1 and 2, GU’s second duo of Vincent Rettke and Kyle Everly fought back to take a 7-5 win and clinch the doubles point. GU’s duo of Simon Homedes-Dualde and Hunter Egger earn GU’s first win of the day at No. 3 doubles, 6-4.

The Zags then quickly cruised to clinch the team win with three straight-set singles victories. Hunter Egger dispatched of his opponent, 6-0, 6-3, on No. 4, followed by Simon Homedes-Dualde on No. 6, 6-3, 6-0 and Vincent Rettke on No. 3, 6-1, 6-3.

The Zags also got victories from Kyle Everly on No. 5, Sam Feit on No. 1 and Ruadhan O’Sullivan on No. 2. Everly won 6-4, 6-4, while Feit earned a 7-5, 6-4 win. O’Sullivan took a super tiebreak third set 10-8 to win 2-6, 6-4, 1-0 (8).
