Men’s Tennis Drops First Dual of Season at Oregon, 4-0

SPOKANE, Wash.— Gonzaga men’s tennis’ six-match winning streak was snapped on Saturday at Oregon with a 4-0 loss in Eugene, Ore.

After dropping the doubles point, GU’s (6-1) singles lineup was unable to get momentum on their side against the Ducks (8-2). Hunter Egger was the top Zag on No. 2, leading by a set and leading in the second when his match went unfinished. He was up 7-5, 4-3. Sam Feit was down a set, but was leading 4-3 in the second set of his match against the nation’s No. 13-ranked Thomas Laurent.

In doubles, Vincent Rettke and Kyle Everly were up 5-4 in their match at the No. 1 spot, but Oregon clinched the point with wins at Nos. 2 and 3.

GU next takes on the University of Portland to open West Coast Conference play on Sunday. Portland is 5-4 on the dual season after a 4-2 loss at WCC foe BYU.
