Sullivan Leads Men's Tennis In Day Two Of GU/EWU Classic

Complete Release in PDF Format CHENEY, Wash. - Freshmen Scott Sullivan posted two more victories Saturday for the Gonzaga University men's tennis team as the Bulldogs continued play at the GU/EWU Classic on the campus of Eastern Washington University. Sullivan, playing in his first career collegiate tournament, continued to play well, advancing to Sunday's Consolation bracket final against Kyle Erickson from Portland State University. Sullivan posted an impressive 8-0 win over Seattle University's Dylan Reetz in their quarterfinal match up and Sullivan later beat Ben Demarois from the University of Montana 8-1 in the semifinals. Freshman Jake Davis fell one win short of matching up with Sullivan for the Consolation final after he dropped his semifinal match up. Davis battled PSU's Kyle Erickson tough but eventually fell 8-3 and finished with an impressive 3-2 record in his first collegiate tournament. Redshirt sophomore Casey McCoy posted an 8-0 victory over SU's Joel Thomas in his second round Consolation matchup but later dropped his quarterfinal match with UM's Ben Demarois 8-2. The group of veteran Bulldogs that each posted victories in Friday's first two rounds drew some tough match ups Saturday. Senior Stefan Feddersen won his third round matchup over PSU's Jeff Cero 6-2, 6-1 but lost his quarterfinal round match in the Singles bracket to University of Idaho's Robert Chalkley 6-4, 7-6. Junior Roman Dojcak dropped a heartbreaker to Idaho's Stanislav Glukhov in his third round matchup in the Singles bracket. Dojcak won his first set 6-3, but Glukhove rallied to advance to the quarterfinals with a 6-3 win in the second set and the one-game tie-breaker. Sophomore Conor Feeney also dropped a hard fought match to EWU's Pannhara Mam 6-2, 6-4. GU/EWU Classic play wraps up Sunday.
