Sullivan Wins Consolation Singles Bracket at GU/EWU Classic

CHENEY, Wash. - Gonzaga University freshmen men's tennis player Scott Sullivan capped his solid week of play by winning the Singles Consolation bracket at the GU/EWU Classic played at Eastern Washington University Sunday. The Pullayup, Wash. native beat Kyle Erickson from Portland State University 6-4, 6-0 in the Sunday morning finale to finish with a 5-1 record in his first career collegiate tournament for the Bulldogs. "Scott played better in each match throughout the tournament, he was very impressive this weekend, " said head coach Peter MacDonald. Each Bulldog that participated in the Classic, posted at least one win in the team's first event of its fall season. "We are pleased with everybody's performance this weekend. We were very competitive against some very solid opponents throughout the weekend," said MacDonald. The Zags will play in just one more fall tournament, the ITA Regionals in Berkley, Calif. Oct. 17-21.
