Bryan Husin Joins MTEN Squad
Aug. 29, 2017
SPOKANE, Wash.—The Gonzaga men’s tennis team bolstered its ranks over the summer as Bryan Husin joined the squad as a transfer student.
“We’re really excited about Bryan joining the team,” said Gonzaga head coach Peter MacDonald. “He comes from a great tennis background and has a lot of high-level experience. He works hard, is very coachable, and will definitely be a boost to our program.”
Husin, a sophomore from Jakarta, Indonesia, began his collegiate career at the University of the Pacific. With the Tigers, he saw action in nine matches, including three conference duals. His first win came March 13 against Fresno State as he defeated Jeremy Moser in two sets at the No. 6 singles position. Husin broke into the doubles lineup twice, picking up a win against Loyola Marymount March 26.
Before college, Husin won gold medals for Indonesia during the 2014 SEA games and the 2016 ASEAN School Games. He also made the rosters for the U14 and U16 Junior Davis Cup, and he has climbed as high as 293 on the ITA junior rankings.
Husin joins eight Zags – seven returners, one incoming freshman – on the 2017-18 roster. GU will begin fall tournament play later on this month.
