Trunk or Treat Event A Hit
Oct. 28, 2016
SPOKANE, Wash. -- A group of 117 Gonzaga student-athletes distributed candy to youngsters at the Trunk or Treat event hosted by Catholic Charities on October 26.
The event, open to area youth held outside of St. Anne's, was an opportunity for kids to "trick-or-treat" their way through the cars where 10 Gonzaga teams were represented by 117 student-athletes.
The student-athletes handed out 470 pounds worth of candy to nearly 200 youngsters. Many of the student-athletes came in costume, decorated their cars, and led activities to ensure that every child had a fun and safe evening. Catholic Charities provided a face-painter, pumpkin bowling and other Halloween-themed crafts.
In order to facilitate the event, Gonzaga Athletics held a candy drive in the weeks leading up to Halloween.
