Ciera Min Named November Zag of the Month
Dec. 6, 2016

November's Zag of the Month has been awarded to Ciera Min, a member of the women's golf team. Min began her career at Gonzaga in the fall of 2013 after placing second at the Hawaii State Championships during her senior high school season. Four years later, she continues to succeed on the course. Min has also demonstrated her ability to excel in the classroom and community, serving as a role model for her teammates and fellow Zags.

Min has played in 34 tournaments and 97 rounds over the course of her collegiate career, earning West Coast Conference accolades every season. During the 2015-16 season, Min was the WCC Individual Champion after shooting a school record six-under 66 on the final day. Known for both her ambition and compassion, she encourages her teammates to go above and beyond. Her fellow Zags described her as, "one who leads by example. She is awesome at everything she does."

A psychology major, the Hilo, Hawaii, native holds a 3.43 GPA. In the spring of 2016 Min's dedication and work ethic, demonstrated through her academic and athletic career, was recognized with her third First Team All-WCC and second WCC All-Academic honors. She is also an active member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, and, serving as the Health and Wellness Chair, Min has worked countless hours towards improving the overall student-athlete experience.

Min has also been involved in numerous community outreach events through Gonzaga athletics. She started this school year volunteering for the JDRF and MDA walks, followed by the Catholic Charities Food Drive, Trunk-or-Treat, and Habitat for Humanity. In past years she has volunteered for the Relay for Life, Catholic Charities' Leaf Raking Blitz, The Boys and Girls Club, and Catholic Charities' Spring Clean Up event. Min has always been one to want to get involved and has encouraged her teammates to do the same.

A student-athlete selected as Zag-of-the-Month exhibits effort and excellence in academics, leadership, integrity, campus involvement, community service, dedication to team, and the ability to serve as a role model for current and future GU students and student-athletes. Each month GU's S.A.A.C. nominates and selects one of their peers for the award.
