Women's Basketball Will Face No. 7 Louisville In Sweet Sixteen

SPOKANE, Wash. - The No. 11 seed Gonzaga University women's basketball team learned who its opponent will be in its Spokane Regional semifinal this Saturday. The Bulldogs will face No. 7 seed University of Louisville, who upset No. 2 seed Xavier University 85-75 Tuesday night on the Musketeers home court in Cincinnati, Ohio. The Cardinal closed out the game on a 21-5 run to earn the come-from-behind victory.
Louisville is making its third appearance in the Sweet Sixteen and the first since the 2009 campaign. The Cardinal holds a 22-12 overall mark and were 10-6 in the Big East Conference. Their last loss came in the quarterfinals of the Big East Tournament, falling to Notre Dame 63-53.
The Bulldogs, 30-4, are making their second-straight appearance in the Sweet Sixteen. The game time for the Zags vs. Cardinal contest, to be held at Spokane Arena, is set for 6:00 p.m.
