Gonzaga WBB Hires Shannon Donegan As Director Of Basketball Operations
Sept. 1, 2017
SPOKANE, Wash. – The Gonzaga women’s basketball program is proud to announce the hiring of Shannon Donegan as the new Director of Basketball Operations.
Donegan comes most recently from fellow WCC-member Saint Mary’s College, where she has served as the Gaels’ Director of Basketball Operations and Video Coordinator since 2013.
"We are really excited to announce that Shannon Donnegan will be joining our staff,” Gonzaga head coach Lisa Fortier said. “She is coming to Gonzaga with great knowledge of our conference and has proven to be a successful Director of Basketball Operations. We were looking for a great fit, and her demeanor and personality is going to match our staff well. Her experience with the job and her creativity has allowed her to hit the ground running.”
She is originally from Pennsylvania and was the Girls Varsity head coach at Germantown Friends High School in Philadelphia from 2011 to 2013. During that time, she also served as a sports instructor at the YMCA in Berwyn, Pennsylvania.
"I would like to thank Lisa Fortier and the Gonzaga University women’s basketball staff for welcoming me to the Gonzaga Family and for the opportunity to work with such a talented program,” Donegan said. “I believe in the culture coach Fortier, her staff, and the athletics department have instilled in the student-athletes and the community. I am honored and excited for the opportunity to build upon the Zag foundation and help discover future success for the program."
While at Saint Mary’s she handled the day-to-day operations of the program, along with organizing all logistics, including travel, for the team. She communicated with visiting teams and booked times at opposing facilities for practices and shoot rounds. She coordinated special events for the program, including alumni events and hosted boosters. Donegan was active with the team’s social media accounts, and created and edited videos for the team’s use.
She submitted many of the required reporting documents to the compliance office, managed game film for the Gaels, and assisted with recruiting visits.
Donegan completed her bachelor’s in athletic training from Temple University in Philadelphia in 2012 and received her master’s in sport management from the University of San Francisco in 2015.
