SPOKANE, Wash. - Have you ever wondered what it would be like to be the public address announcer for a major sports team? Think you've got the golden voice? Do you love basketball?

Well here's your opportunity to find out.

Gonzaga University will be holding auditions for a women's basketball public address announcer for the upcoming season.

The auditions will be held Oct. 15 at 6 p.m. in the McCarthey Athletic Center.

But before you do anything else, you need to apply and tell us why you should be the next PA announcer.

Anyone interested in auditioning must submit a resume and, in 25 words or less, tell us why you should be the next PA announcer for the Bulldog women's basketball team. The deadline to submit your resume and write-up is Oct. 7. The applications will be reviewed and you'll be notified no later than Oct. 12 if you have been selected to attend the tryout. Resumes and write-ups need to be e-mailed to sportsinfo@athletics.gonzaga.edu.

Everyone auditioning will be asked to welcome the Bulldogs to the court, do a starting line-up introduction and do some standard PA announcements. Each candidate will be behind the microphone for 3-5 minutes.

Candidates will be judged on enthusiasm, enunciation, pronunciation and general basketball knowledge. Previous PA experience is not mandatory. All candidates must be able to attend all home women's basketball games. The schedule can be found at http://www.gozags.com/sports/w-baskbl/sched/gonz-w-baskbl-sched.html.

"We think there are some talented people in Spokane," Gonzaga head women's basketball coach Kelly Graves said. "We want to find the next arena voice for women's basketball."

So get that resume ready, come up with a creative 25 words and tune up those vocal cords.
