Emma Wolfram Out For Season With Injury
Nov. 3, 2017
“Although my career did not end the way I wanted it to, Gonzaga was still an awesome experience,” Wolfram said. “I am so thankful for the fans, coaches, and my teammates who have stayed by my side through everything.”
Wolfram, a redshirt senior, has appeared in 64 games for the Zags in her career, averaging 5.4 points per game and 4.1 rebounds per game. She was named to the West Coast Conference All-Freshman Team in 2015 and was Honorable Mention Academic All-WCC last year. She led the team in blocks last season with 34 and has 81 in her career.
“Not having Emma on the court this year is a huge blow to her and our program,” Gonzaga head coach Lisa Fortier said. “She is one of the most talented players to come through Gonzaga and was poised for a huge season. Emma is a tremendous leader and mentor, and she will be a key part of helping this year’s team reach its potential.”
Wolfram was vital in the Bulldogs’ 2015 run through the NCAA Tournament. As a redshirt freshman, she had a career-high 17 points in the upset win at Oregon State in the second round. The Kamloops, B.C. native had 10 points, six rebounds and three blocks against George Washington in the first round. Wolfram finished the season with eight points, seven rebounds and four blocks versus Tennessee in the Sweet 16.
She finished last season strong as well, as she had a career-high 14 rebounds and season-high 13 points at Pacific. She scored in double-figures against Pacific and Saint Mary’s in the WCC Tournament. Wolfram will remain with the team throughout the season.
She graduated last May with her bachelor’s in human physiology and will complete her master’s in organizational leadership this spring.
