SPOKANE, Wash. - Gonzaga University women's basketball plays its second and final exhibition game Saturday when it welcomes Concordia University to the McCarthey Athletic Center for a 2 p.m. tip.

Concordia, members of Cascade Collegiate Conference, finished the 2007-08 season with a 15-16 overall mark and a 11-9 record in conference. The Cavaliers closed out their season a year ago with a 62-51 setback to Oregon Tech in the first round of the Cascade Collegiate Conference tournament.

Concordia opened its exhibition season with a contest against another West Coast Conference opponent in the University of Portland. The Cavaliers, playing tough in the first half, dropped an 84-58 decision to the Pilots on Nov. 3. Concordia was led by Danielle Lauson who scored a team-high 14 points and added four assists, four steals, one rebound and one block.

The Bulldogs first taste of action this season was a successful one as 11 of 13 Bulldog players scored in their 34-point victory over Whitman College Nov. 2, including three players who finished in double-digits. GU was led by junior Vivian Frieson who nearly posted a double-double with a game-high 21 points and eight rebounds. Freshman Kayla Standish and sophomore Courtney Vandersloot also finished with double-figure points for Gonzaga. Standish had 12 points, along with seven rebounds, three blocks, one assist and one steal and Vandersloot added 10 points, three assists and three rebounds.

The Bulldogs, who received votes in both the AP and ESPN/USA Today Coaches' preseason polls earlier this week, will open their regular season on Friday, Nov. 14 against Eastern Oregon University. Game time is set for 6 p.m.
