SPOKANE, Wash. - The Gonzaga University women’s basketball team continues to pick up both wins and votes as the Bulldogs enter the third week of action. The Zags once again appeared among the schools also receiving votes in the latest USA Today/ESPN Division I Top 25 Coaches’ Poll. Gonzaga garnered 14 votes in the third installment of the Coaches’ Poll, up from four votes last week.

The Bulldogs will look to stay perfect on the year when they participate in the WBCA Classic hosted by Marquette University this weekend. Two of Gonzaga’s three opponents at this weekend’s classic are either ranked or receiving votes. The Golden Eagles, the Zags first opponent, received 38 votes, while the University of Virginia, the final opponent for GU, is ranked 15th with a 3-1 record.

Connecticut remained No. 1 in poll, but Rutgers slipped from second to 11th thanks to a pair of losses to ranked teams.

UConn picked up all 31 first-place votes and is now 3-0 on the season. North Carolina moved up one spot to second and is 5-0, followed by California (3-0), Oklahoma (3-1) and Texas A&M (3-0).

Rutgers lost at No. 6 California and No. 8 Stanford on a West Coast trip.

Duke, which was fifth, fell to 13th after losing to Hartford.

Stanford, Baylor, Louisville, Texas and Notre Dame round out the top 10.
