New York - The Gonzaga University women's basketball team picked up more votes in this week's Top-25 Associated Press National Poll. The Zags appeared among the schools also receiving votes this week, receiving 36 votes and putting them just two spots away from the school's first national ranking since March of 2005. Gonzaga has received votes twice this season in the ESPN/USA Today Poll.

The Bulldogs (7-1) claimed the WBCA Classic title in Milwaukee, Wis. this past weekend. After dropping its first game of the tournament to host Marquette University 80-77 on Friday, Gonzaga bounced back with a 60-55 win over the University of Utah on Saturday and a 69-62 upset win over No. 15/16 University of Virginia 69-62 on Sunday. Sunday's win over Virginia was the second ever win over a ranked opponent and the first since beating then No. 19 UCLA 62-57 in 2006.

Off to the best start in school-history, this week the Bulldogs match up with Eastern Washington University in Cheney, Wash. on Thursday and 2008 NCAA Tournament participant UC Santa Barbara in Santa Barbara, Calif. on Sunday. Connecticut (5-0) received all 45 votes to remain at No. 1 in poll after beating then No. 4 ranked University of Oklahoma 106-78 on Sunday. Rounding out the Top-10 was Oklahoma (4-2) who dropped to sixth followed by Tennessee, Maryland, Texas and Baylor.
