Women's Rowing Novice 8+ Advances To Grand Final

Varsity 8+, Junior Varsity 8+, Novice 8+, Second Novice 8+ and Varsity 4+ will all row Sunday.

RANCHO CORDOVA, Calif. – The Gonzaga University women’s rowing Novice 8+, the lone boat to row for the Bulldogs Saturday, won its heat race at the 2011 Western Intercollegiate Rowing Association (WIRA) Championships.

The Zags, who clocked the fastest time of any of the Novice 8+ boats, won their heat by finishing the 2,000-meter course in 7:23.3. UC Santa Barbara took second place with a time of 7:43.1, followed by Humboldt State in third at 7:51.0.

The Novice 8+ will now race in the Grand Final on Sunday. The race is set for 10:10 a.m.
