Women's Rowing Competitive At Head of The Snake

PULLMAN, Wash. - The Gonzaga University women's rowing team fell to Washington State University for the second consecutive week at the Head of the Snake hosted by WSU on Friday at Wawawai Landing in Pullman, Wash. The Cougar Varsity 8+ squeaked out a victory in the marquee event, crossing the finish line with a time of 20:29.01. The Bulldogs finished 26 seconds later at 20:52.03. The Varsity 8+ boat consisted of Emily Wilson, Alissa Stempson, Whitney Engle, Katie Atkins, Hanna McClintock, Sam Cekovic, Hannah Winters, Liz Moore and Jana Holcombe. For the second-straight week the Bulldog Novice 8+ claimed victory over the Cougs. Gonzaga and Washington State each raced strong, but the Zags ultimately edged out a victory with a time of 23:22.83. WSU had a time of 24:12.51. The Novice 8+ was comprised of Natalie Wolfrom, Emily Engel, Alicia Adams, Teddi McGuire, Lizzie Braicks, Chelsea Quilling, Eileen Tierny, Nicole Petiet, and Lainie Gunsul. Gonzaga closes out its fall racing season when it travels to Seattle for the Head of the Lake. The Head of the Lake, hosted by the University of Washington, is set for Sunday, Nov. 9.
