SPOKANE, Wash. - Gonzaga University head golf coach Robert Gray has announced the addition of six golfers for the 2003-04 season with three new players joining both the men's and women's squads.

On the men's side Ryan Miller of Poway, Calif., and John Bergren of Brush Prairie, Wash., signed national letters of intent to play for the Bulldogs while the women had national letter of intent signings from Mary Kate Morgan of Longview, Wash., and Jennifer Swanson of Boise, Ida.

Jimmy Hayes of Sammamish, Wash., and Ali Gilson of Gig Harbor, Wash., have both been accepted at Gonzaga University and will join the men's and women's golf teams in the fall of 2003.

Morgan comes to Gonzaga after back-to-back Top 10 finishes at the Washington 3A State Championships. In 2001 she claimed a seventh place finish before finishing third in the 2002 championship playing for Mark Morris High. She also finish fourth in 2002 at the Washington Junior Golf Association State Championship.

Swanson played golf at Eagle High and finished second in the 2001 District Championship. She followed up that performance with a seventh place finish at the 2001 Idaho State Championship.

Gilson collected an 11th place finish at the 2002 Washington Junior Golf Association State Championship. She earned All-Narows League honors in 2002 at Bellarmine Prep.

Miller was ranked in the Top 50 junior golfers in California and has had numerous medalist finishes in several San Diego Junior Golf Association tournaments. Miller is currently finishing up his senior season at Poway High.

Bergren was recently named to the Columbia All-County Boys golf team and has won four Oregon Junior Golf Association tournaments over the past two seasons. He was a four-time team captain at Heritage High

Hayes had a standout season in 2002 as he won the Washington Junior Golf Association District 2 Championship and was named Eastlake High Golf MVP. He was a two-time first-team All-KingCo 4A Conference selection.
