Bulldogs Wrap Fall Season In Vegas
Oct. 24, 2017
LAS VEGAS – The Gonzaga Bulldogs completed their final round of the fall season on Tuesday at the Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown at Boulder Creek Golf Club.
Heavy wind made conditions difficult for the entire field. Jena Gao had the best final round, shooting a 79, she birdied the par-five 13th and par-five 16th to go one-under on the par-five holes on the day. She finished tied for 91st with Diana Araneta at +24. Jessica Mangrobang was the top finisher for GU in a tie for 72nd. She birdied the par-three 17th in her final round to finish +15.
“Today was a tough day in the heavy wind,” Gonzaga head coach Brad Rickel said. “We ran out of gas a bit. Jessica continued to grind but is just struggling with her ball striking at the moment. We will use all the lessons from this fall and dedicate ourselves to our offseason to prepare us for the spring semester.”
Due to injuries the Zags were playing in the event as individuals.
Elizabeth Prior of host UNLV cruised to the victory by 10 strokes at -16 and UNLV won by the same margin at -17.
