Women's Rowing adds Keaty as Assistant Coach

Former Zag rower Madison Keaty was 2013 WCC Rower of the Year, set to join coaching staff

Madison Keaty begins her second season as an assistant coach at Gonzaga. A Gonzaga grad and former Zag rower from 2010-14, Keaty came back to Gonzaga from Ithaca (N.Y.) College where she was an assistant coach for two seasons.

During her time at Ithaca, Keaty served as a graduate assistant in 2014-15 and co-novice coach in 2015-16, helping lead the program to several top finishes. In the spring of 2015, she coached the Varsity Lightweight 4+ to a third-place finish at the ECAC Championship in the Open 4+. Then in 2016, she coached a pair of Varsity 4+ to a first-place finish in the Open 4+ at the NIRC Championship and a Lightweight 4+ to a first-place finish at the Dad Vail Regatta.

Prior to Ithaca, Keaty was a member of the Gonzaga Women's Rowing squad from 2010-14 and served as the team captain during the 2013-14 season. She was named the West Coast Conference Rower of the year as a junior in 2013, helping lead the Zags to the WCC title and a berth in the NCAA Championships where they finished 19th overall. Keaty was a two-time All-WCC selection and was named the squad's Most Inspirational as a senior in 2014. Academically, she excelled as well, being named a Dean's List and President's List honoree, WCC All-Academic Team selection, CRCA Scholar-Athlete and WCC Commissioner's Honor Roll recipient.

Keaty earned a Bachelor of Education degree in Sport Management in May 2014 from GU and a Master of Science degree in Sport Psychology from Ithaca in December 2015. Keaty also has club coaching experience as the head coach for Lake Union Crew in Seattle, Washington, from 2013-15 and as a volunteer assistant for the Dayton Boat Club in Dayton, Ohio, in 2011.
