Aug. 28, 2017

SPOKANE, Wash. -- The Gonzaga women's rowing team has announced their 2017-18 schedule. The Bulldogs will compete in four regattas in the fall and six regattas in the spring season.

"Once again we have assembled a schedule designed to best prepare our team for success during the championship segment of our season," Gonzaga head coach Glenn Putyrae said. "We will be tested early and often throughout the fall and spring so that we can gauge the progress of our team throughout the season."

The Zags will open against Washington State in a small boat regatta on the Spokane River on October 1 and then host the Cougars on October 14 as part of the Head of the Spokane. The Bulldogs will travel to the Head of the American at the site of the WCC Championships on Lake Natoma in Gold River, Calif. on October 28 and finish the fall season at the Head of the Lake in Seattle on November 5. Their schedule is a mirror image of their fall schedule from 2016.

The Bulldogs will kick off their spring season once again with scrimmage at Portland on February 23 and 24. They officially open the spring season by returning to the San Diego Crew Classic, the largest eight-oared regatta in the world, for the first time since 2014, on March 24 and 25. The Zags will travel to face Oregon State in a dual in Eugene, Ore. on March 31.

They will prepare for the WCC Championships once again by competing in the two-day Lake Natoma Invitational on April 14 and 15, and then host WSU in the annual Fawley Cup on their home course at Silver Lake on April 28. GU will attempt to qualify for the NCAA Championships for the fourth-straight year at the WCC Championships on May 12 on Lake Natoma.  The NCAA Championships are slated for May 25-27 at Nathan Benderson Park in Sarasota, Fla.
